Hello loves, hope things are good. I'm not sure where my heads at but I've just realised it's nearly the end of November already! I can't believe it, especially since last year I set myself the pretty impossible task of having "everything" done by the beginning of December > Ha! And I'm not even sure what "everything" is anyway! But one thing I have managed to get in on time is this years DIY advent calendar. Do you remember the one I made for my boys last Christmas? All black & white and simple. Well this year I've had little houses on my mind and so I thought I'd make a Christmas Village Advent Calendar. I've also been loving all the moody photography, indigo blues and splashes of copper I've seen around. So this little DIY calendar has come from various sources of inspiration that all collided together in my mind at the same time> I love it when that happens!
And since you still have time yourself I thought you might like to make your own too > see the links at the bottom to down load your own advent calendar. This was really so simple to make. I just bought some blank match boxes (for hiding the sweeties & little presents) from a craft suppliers (google will find you one) and I simply cut out the houses and stuck (with pritt stick) to the long edge of the matchbox so the box acts as a stand. Oh and I painted a few with coppery metallic paint (Reeves do a good one) I used a piece of card to get straight edges. But remember wobbly edges are good too :) Or you could leave without painting, they'll look just as nice.
If you didn't want to use the match boxes at all you could just stick each house to the front of a small envelope, hole punch the top and hang on a branch (We love a Christmas twig in this house! ) Works just as well. I got the whole advent done in an evening,so all you need to do is grab your supplies and get making!! It'll make you feel all happy & Christmassy & whoever it is for will love it because it's handmade !
Much Love, Silk xx
